Welcome to Broken By Design Mosaic’s website! I am glad that you stopped by to check out what I’m doing. While the idea of starting a business that sold mosaics and held workshops has been in my heart for a while, the reality of it began on August 22, 2016, when my sweet friend, Joanne, watched my one-year-old so I could have some balance in my life. I didn’t have anything in particular to do, so I decided to go to the Richardson Mercantile to check it out. The moment I stepped inside, the dream was stirred. My heart quickened at the possibility. Now, several months later, I’ve met with the Small Business Development Center, created a business plan and marketing plan, set up a website, developed six product lines (more later) and created more mosaics than I thought was possible in such a short period. I’ve been cutting, sanding and staining wood. I’ve been laying tesserae (smashed dishes & such) and grouting. I’ve been shopping to set up my store. I have planned and organized for hours and hours. I made a pallet table and procured fun decorations for my store. Now, the countdown is on. I have 14 days before my mosaics are in my store and ready for purchase.I will be there most of the day on Sat., Sept. 24. We’re open from 10 am – 7 pm.
